Start your real estate career today by enrolling in your online real estate training courses. Your pre-requisite courses will include the Fundamentals of Real Estate and one or more of the practice courses related to the areas of real estate you're planning on practicing, i.e., residential real estate, commercial real estate, property management, and/or rural (agri-business).

You will earn a certificate for each course you complete in this program.

How to Get Licensed
- Review Real Estate Council of Alberta's (RECA) eligibility requirements to become a licensee and follow the steps on the webpage to create your MyRECA account.
- Receive your eligibility acceptance letter from RECA. Your letter will contain your RECA CON ID number, which you need before registering for your course(s).
- Register for your course(s). Please review the section below called "Before You Register"
- Fundamentals of Real Estate (RELA100) must be completed first, and you will have 3 months to complete it. Note: You must provide your RECA eligibility letter and Learner Letter Form to register in RELA courses to confirm your eligibility.
- Once NAIT has notified RECA of your course completion, you have 3 months to write your exam. The exam will be administered in a physical exam centre and will take around 3 hours to complete. See the full details under RECA's exam section.
- Write your exam. You have 2 attempts to pass the licensing exam, and a minimum of 70% is required.
- After completion of the Real Estate Fundamentals course and a successful exam pass, RECA will notify you that you are eligible to register in a specialization course from one of the following practice areas:
- Residential
- Commercial
- Rural
- Property Management
- After passing both the Fundamentals and the specialization area exam, refer to steps 5 to 7 on RECA's licensing page.
How to Register
To complete this program as part of your real estate licensing requirements, you must first create a MyRECA account with the Real Estate Council of Alberta's (RECA) and receive your RECA eligibility acceptance letter with your RECA CON ID. You will need this letter before registering for your NAIT course.
Paperwork is required to process your registration.

Please fill out the enrolment request form. It must be completed and submitted at least 5 days before your course begins.
- Note: if you are taking these courses as part of pursuing your real estate license rather than out of general interest, you will need to attach your eligibility acceptance letter from RECA to the form submission.
- We cannot process your course registration without this form submission.
- While planning your schedule, keep in mind that RELA courses start the first (1) day of every month.
Completed a prerequisite course at another institution?
If you completed your Real Estate Fundamentals course (i.e., RELA100 at NAIT) at a different institution, you will need to provide proof of your completion before we can approve your enrolment in any of the other Real Estate (RELA) courses. Please fill out the enrolment request form and attach evidence of the prerequisition course completion from your MyRECA account.
