Course Description

Explore the Canadian standards for the safe use of radiation as a Medical Radiological Technologist. Determine the biological implications of using ionizing radiation and how to protect yourself, patients and co-workers through the safe application of ionizing radiation. Describe protective practices and monitoring of radiation exposure dose. Apply the ALARA principle to cases where the patient, yourself or others are or may be pregnant. The skills obtained in this course will instill confidence to respond to patient inquiries about the risks of having x-ray procedures performed.
