Course Description

This course is valuable for students interested in gaining knowledge related to intravenous (IV) insertion. Skills gained in this course will allow you to determine the indications and contraindications for initiating IV access, describe the basic process of IV insertion, and discuss possible complications and the appropriate response if complications are encountered. Within the province of Alberta, the insertion of IVs is a restricted practice. Completion of this course on its own does not qualify a participant to perform IV insertions in clinical practice.
