Course Description

Prepare to teach Heart & Stroke's First Aid by exploring the fundamentals of instruction; including classroom management, knowledge promotion, and skill transfer and retention. Through hands-on training, you will practice teaching discipline specific skills to others .With the knowledge gained in this course, you will have the skills to educate individuals on the concepts of Heart & Stroke First Aid. We are ONLY able to accept candidates in CSA-regulated provinces such as Alberta, Manitoba, NB, NWT, Nova Scotia, PEI, Nunavut, Quebec & Yukon.

Prerequisites

You must be registered through the Heart & Stroke Foundation Resuscitation portal to be eligible to take this course: https://cpr.heartandstroke.ca. We are ONLY able to accept candidates in CSA-regulated provinces such as Alberta, Manitoba, NB, NWT, Nova Scotia, PEI, Nunavut, Quebec & Yukon.

This course requires the following prerequisites: 

  1. CPRS500 - Current Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada Standard First Aid course. 

  2. Core Instructor Course - offered through Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada. 

  3. Complete the First Aid Bridging Course Orientation - online module through the H&S portal.

Additional Information: Within six months of successful completion of this course and prior to receiving instructor status, you must complete your monitoring of a full Intermediate First Aid provider course. You must be monitored by an Instructor Trainer or Experienced Instructor.

Note: This instructor course requires additional registration steps through the Heart & Stroke Foundation.  Please refer to the registration instructions before completing your NAIT registration.
