Course Description

Data Analysis is the process of systematically applying statistical and/or logical techniques to describe, illustrate, condense, recap, and evaluate data. Upon successful completion of this course you will be able to apply Data Visualization tools and techniques to see data come to life. Data Visualization is a term that describes any effort to facilitate the understanding of data by placing it in a visual context. Data Analysis is a process of inspecting, cleansing, transforming, and modeling data with the goal of discovering valuable information, suggesting conclusions, and supporting decision-making. Current Data Visualization tools go well beyond the standard charts and graphs used in Excel spreadsheets, displaying data in more sophisticated ways such as infographics, dials and gauges, geographic maps, spark lines, heat maps, and detailed bar, pie, and fever charts. Patterns, trends, and correlations that might go undetected in text-based data can be revealed and recognized more readily with Data Visualization software. Graduates of this course will be able to describe the concepts, methodologies, and applications of data discovery and statistical analysis. You will also be able to pull query results into worksheets to create accurate and comprehensive visualizations of data. A well-crafted, thoughtful Data Visualization makes the lightbulb go off ...one that just doesn’t happen with a spreadsheet!
