Course Description

Join us for a two-day, hands-on training course hosted by NAIT Applied Research’s Centre for Energy & Environmental Sustainability (CEES).

Day 1: Water Chemistry Analysis using Ion Chromatography (IC) This session covers preparation of calibration standards, anion and cations eluents, and water samples. Participants will gain hands-on experience operating ion chromatography (IC), performing IC data analysis, and measuring pH and electroconductivity.

Day 2: Homogenization and Subsampling.

This day focuses on homogenization and subsampling of solid and slurry samples. By the end of this session, participants will be able to select appropriate homogenization and subsampling methods based on sample type and determine whether subsamples are representative.

Each session includes theoretical instruction, hazard assessment, review of standard operating procedures, and hands-on training led by experienced technologists. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will become familiar with a mining laboratory environment and gain practical skills in homogenization and subsampling and standard water chemistry using IC with established procedures.
